Introduction to the Sony ILME-FX3

Sony ILME-FX3 draws on the Cinema Line and Alpha series camcorders to create an optimized portable cinema-grade camcorder. The FX3 has all the imaging attributes of this class, but with a redesigned hand-held body, a streamlined and minimal form factor, and a "cage-free" design that demonstrates the ability to secure a variety of accessories directly to the camera body. The Sony ILME-FX3's 12.1MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor is paired with a BIONZ XR processor for Ultra HD 4K video capture with internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling or 16-bit raw output. The sensor's BSI design improves clarity and sensitivity, with an extendable ISO 80-409600 range and more than 15 stops of dynamic range to work in mixed lighting conditions, thanks to color and tone control. S-Cinetone mode can be used to match VENICE, FX9 or FX6 sources, as well as S-Log3/2 color gamut support and 10-bit HLG for simple HDR production. The sensor and processor also work together to greatly reduce rolling shutter, and the sensor design incorporates a Fast Hybrid AF system for intelligent, fast focus performance and subject tracking.
